OYO Rooms a Gurgaon based Hotel Aggregator platform has decided to expand their services in Gangtok and Darjeeling by offering 250+ Standardized rooms.

OYO Rooms was founded by Ritesh Agarwal in 2013. It has emerged to be the largest hotel aggregator in India with 65,000 rooms in 5,500 hotels in 177 cities. In Darjeeling and Gangtok more than 250 standardized rooms are available at the lowest rate of Rs 999 per night and premium rooms for Rs 2500- Rs 4000 per night.

The hotel room are available at popular tourist spots like Tsango Lake, MG Marg in Gangtok and Mall Road and Tiger Hills in Darjeeling. With the prime locations travellers can enjoy the view of the Himalayan range including the snow peaks of Kanchenjunga.

Ritesh Agarwal founder for OYO Rooms said

“We have made significant investments to expand our presence in key tourist destinations in the north-east like Gangtok and Darjeeling. Our teams have worked very hard to deliver OYO’s level of standardisation of guest experience in the hotel.”

He further added

“The hospitality sector is still underdeveloped in the north-east and we are certain that the introduction of OYO’s standardised affordable stays will attract more tourists.”

Ritesh Agarwal said about the current business trends that

“We receive queries for north-east from across the country, but Darjeeling and Gangtok receive the highest number of queries from Kolkata (40 per cent) followed by Gujarat, Maharashtra and Delhi (15 per cent each).”

With increasing trend of smartphones 65% of the bookings are driven from the Mobile app. Kolkata accounts for 30% of the bookings in Gangtok and Darjeeling while Delhi contributes 12% bookings.
